Welcome to Brent Knoll

I am pleased to welcome you to Brent Knoll Primary School. The school has been on this site in the village since 1861, though much has changed a lot since those early days; we currently have 135 children based within five classes.

In April 2019, the school joined the Wessex Learning Trust (WLT) as an academy. WLT is a group of schools based largely in the Cheddar Valley, which includes Hugh Sexey Middle School and Kings of Wessex Academy. As a primary, however, where children remain until Year 6, we continue to work closely with the King Alfred Academy (TKASA) secondary school in Burnham on Sea, where the majority of our children choose to go in Year 7. We also maintain close links with the other primaries in Highbridge and Burnham. In essence, we are fortunate in being able to work within two communities of schools.

I know it is always nice to visit a school and these visits are now available following the lifting of Covid restrictions, though the video link below can be watched to give you a flavour of what we have to offerr and of who we are and what we can offer. Since January 2021, we have had our own pre-school on site. This part of the school welcomes children from the age of 2 upward and occupies a lovely bright, new room which faces directly onto the school field and the neighbouring countryside. The highly skilled dedicated pre-school staff are always happy to show new families around.

If you are looking for a school where you can ‘shine your light’, please do come and visit. Our most recent Ofsted report may be located using the link at the top of this page. Our newsletters, also give a good flavour of what we do.
